Orcas Island residents are encouraged to use our Green CarShare program. The program provides access to electric vehicles and encourages residents to reduce carbon emissions while also lowering transportation costs. The CarShare program has been made possible through a grant from the Washington Department of Transportation Zero-Emissions Access Program (ZAP).
Five cars are available – three Chevy Equinoxes, a Chevy Bolt EV and a Chevy Bolt EUV. The Bolt EV is a hatchback, while the Bolt EUV is a crossover SUV. The Chevy Equinoxes are based at OPAL headquarters, the Orcas Island Community Foundation and Deer Harbor. The Bolt cars are stationed at April’s Grove and the Orcas Island High School. There are or will be dedicated carshare EV chargers at these locations.
If you meet the eligibility requirements and want to schedule a test drive, contact us at greencarshare-support@islandrides.org or call/text us at 360-468-5260.
The electric vehicles are shared across users who reserve times to use the cars.
